Vintage all original 1870 map of Chester City, Delco, Pennsylvania that was removed from of an 1870 Atlas of Delaware County. The tissue-type parchment thin bank note paper fold open lithograph map measures 24 1/2" by 42". It reads "Map Of The City Of Chester, Del. Co. Penna., From Actual Survey And Private Plans By H. W. Hopkins, C. E., Based Upon The City Commissioners Map Of Streets By G. M. Hopkins, C. E., No. 320 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, 1870., Scale 300 Ft. Per Inch". The map has a "Chester City Business Directory" in the bottom right corner as pictured. The map was attached to the atlas spine at the top right hand edge (15 1/2") and shows a rough edge from removal from the atlas. This rough edge can be trimmed back to match the factory smooth lower half edge of the map. There is a small tear on the center left border section as pictured. The authentic original 153 year old hand colored map displays beautifully with great details and colors and includes "North Ward, South Ward, Middle Ward". The details include buildings, property lines, railroads, roads, creeks, rivers, etc. The map is loaded with info. The map shows general use and storage wear. It is in overall very good to excellent condition with folds as originally issued inside the Atlas. Folded it measures 15 1/2" by 12 1/2".
