This is a complete set of "CLASSIC PINUP ART BY GEORGE PETTY: THE PETTY GIRL SERIES 2" COLLECTOR CARDS (21st Century Archives/1995). This complete card set consists of 50 different cards in all (#51 - #100). Each card features reproductions of all original GEORGE PETTY classic pin-up art on a traditional trading card size (2.5" X 3.5"). These are not playing cards, they are a complete set of trading cards #51 - #100.
The Petty Girl was a marvel of design and technical achievement. Working in airbrush and watercolor with an almost surgical finesse, George Petty's draftsmanship was such that to this day it influences and is the envy of contemporary artists. Within a year of her appearance in the first issue of ESQUIRE in depression dark 1933, the "Petty Girl" began her heady climb, stepping serenely over the worshiping forms of college boy and corporate head alike.
The style & format of these cards are just simply BEAUTIFUL! The classic art might be over 50 years old, but the images are timeless. The classic PETTY style has shaped the minds of men to what they think a sexy lady looks like. The images are from the magazines the likes of ESQUIRE, TRUE & the RIGID TOOL CALENDARS some very rare which all span from the 30s to the 50s. Where appropriate, there is the original accompanying caption to the image drawn right on the front of the card.
This card set picks up where Series 1 left off & numbers the cards consecutively .
The backs of these cards are really something else. The text used is written by world-renowned authority Reid Stewart Austin. It offers extraordinary detail into the history of "The Petty Girl," as well as to George Petty himself & the social impact his works has had on us all these many years.

These cards come to you in their very own collectible factory-issued storage box. The box has been opened, but is in beautiful shape. It has full color images on the front & back & a little bio about the cards as well.
