20 Sep 98 - Hatfield - 55th Anniv.of De Havilland flown  from Hurn airport in de Havilland Vampire.Reflown from Cambridge Airport home of Marshall Aerospace in Cessna 172S G - HERC owned by Cambridge Aero Club on a special sortie to commemorate the 100th Birthday of Sir Arthur Marshall. Pilot Iain Young. 55th Anniversary  De Havilland DH 100 First Flight 20 September 1943

Sir Arthur Gregory George Marshall (4 December 1903 - 16 March 2007) was a British aviation pioneer and businessman, Marshall Aerospace. Marshall's company built under subcontract the famous  droop nose for Concorde

He learned to fly in 1928, and shortly thereafter created an airstrip near his family's Cambridge home, which by 1929 had turned into a full-fledged airfield. Six years later, Marshall and his father, David, bought the land where the present  Cambridge Airport now stands and started Marshall Aerospace.

During World War II, Marshall's played a key role in training over 20,000 pilots and flying instructors.

Under Sir Arthur's guidance, the firm became the UK's largest aircraft repairer, fixing or converting 5,000 planes during the war. Over the years, such major airplane manufacturers as  De Havilland, Bristol, Vickers and English Electric have entrusted Marshall's with the servicing of their aircraft.

Leslie Victor Worsdell OBE DFC with 39 Sqn in Malta  involved in attacking Italian shipping  for which he was awarded the DFC. Marshall of Cambridge Chief Test Pilot 1945 - 1977.

Herbert Edward Tappin DFC & Bar. Wg Cdr H E Tappin DFC   took part in the Dieppe raid and the Channel dash Flying Instructor  Commissioned late 1940 posted to  52 O.T.U. Deben DFC*  3 Sqn 157 Sqn 256 Sqdns Marshall of Cambridge Test Pilot 1945 - 1961.

Douglas Page Flew Stirling from RAF Tuddenham Suffolk with 90 Sqn ,then Lancasters at RAF Feltwell flew 30 Mission.  Marshall of Cambridge Test Pilot 1952 - 1982.

Iain Young  Chief Test Pilot Marshall Aerospace 1997 - Present. flew with 28 Sqn at Kai Tak Hong Kong.
