John of Nepomuk was a 14th-century
Bohemian saint who, after drowning, became the patron saint against floods and
drowning. His life and miracles were recorded by author George Fricx in his
book “Life and Miracles of Saint John Nepomucene” which included a
thorough description of the brutal torture and murder drowning of Nepomuk by
Wenceslaus IV King of Bohemia.
This impressive 1731 edition of Fricx’s “Jean
Nepomucene” includes 33 beautiful, full-page engravings depicting scenes of
Nepomuk’s life and ministry.
