A magnificent, fine and impressive, pair of large silver bird ornaments; part of our ornamental silverware collection
Description
These magnificent and large antique Indian silver table ornaments have been realistically modelled in the form of a pair of peafowl/peacocks.
These very impressive and oversized silver peafowl ornaments have been embellished with fine embossed and engraved details reproducing the plumage and anatomical features.
The elongated tail feathers of each bird are embellished with impressive engraved decoration replicating the iconic peacock eye-shaped spots.
The cast silver legs of both large birds surmount an impressive oval plateau; one bird's base is encompassed with impressive embossed scrolling leaf decoration and the other bears engraved designs.
Such magnificent and large silver bird ornaments are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
ConditionThese antique silver peafowl ornaments are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The embossed decoration is all very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is crisp.
There is a minor surface ding to the upper portion of the tail feathers of one bird.
There are no hallmarks as to be expected with such a piece; the date and origin can be determined by the composition and decoration.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these magnificent examples of ornamental silver.
