Tagua necklaces are " Greenproduct", made from seeds of a Tagua palm tree that grows in the Amazon Rainforest ofEcuador. Each necklace has a stretchy cord made of artisanal 100% waxed cotton, that allows the necklace to be worn longer or shorter depending on the outfit you are wearing. Every 7 years female tagua tree produces seeds, which are dried and heavy husk covering the seeds is removed. Please see what raw tagua looks like in the photos provided. The natural color of the seeds is creme color. Then the nuts are sliced into various shapes, dyed with organic dyes, holes are drilled in each chip and artisan jewelers buy thetagua chips in various colors to assemble them into jewelry.
