CorningWare is a brand of glass-ceramic kitchen products that was first introduced in 1958 by Corning Glass Works (later Corning Inc.) in the United States. The ovenware was made of a white glass-ceramic material called Pyroceram, which was resistant to shock from sudden temperature changes and breakage. Pyroceram was the invention of Stanley Donald Stookey, who accidentally discovered the new material in the Corning lab in 1953.

CorningWare products were popular for their durability and ability to adapt to different temperatures quickly. The original CorningWare bakeware could be used on the stove, in the oven, and under the broiler. Over 750 million CorningWare pieces have been manufactured since the 1950s.

After World Kitchen acquired the brand in the late 1990s, CorningWare products were switched to ceramic stoneware production. This is one of those items.
