Germany Deutsches Reich 1939 Mi. Nr. 717 4 Rpf. on 35 Pf. Danzig Definitive Overprint MH

Following the absorption of the city state of Danzig into the Reich in the autumn of 1939, the series of definitive stamps were reissued with new overprinted values, with the Reichspfennig and Reichsmark replacing the old Pfenning and Groschen. The designs all feature the coat of arms of the city, apart from the two high values.

Issued on 1st October 1939, this is the reddish-brown 4 Rpf. overprinted on the 35 Pf., which is in mint hinged condition.
