During World War II in the Philippines, the occupying Japanese government-issued currency in several denominations; this is known as the Japanese invasion currency.

These bills were often used by American psychological warfare personnel as propaganda leaflets. The US government printed Japanese occupation currency and dropped bales of it from Allied aircraft over the occupied territories making it worthless.
