Work a unique piece of history into your everyday fashion with this 1907 Indian Head Coin Penny coin pendant.

The U.S. Mint struck Indian Head pennies from 1859-1909. Unlike earlier-minted Indian Head pennies, which the mint had produced in copper-nickel, the 1907 coin on this pendant is actually a bronze coin. The federal government authorized the production of bronze pennies through the Act of April 22, 1864, which combatted merchants' illegal distribution of copper tokens to customers in response to Civil-War-era coin shortages.

Contrary to what the penny's name might suggest, the coin's front, or obverse, actually does not depict a Native American. Instead, it portrays Lady Liberty wearing a Native American headdress. Her bust is surrounded by the words "United States of America" and the coin's mintage year.

This standalone pendant showcases the Indian Head penny's front design, which was created by Philadelphia Mint chief engraver James Barton Longacre. The pendant also features a loop designed to work with a separate necklace or chain.

Whether you are looking for a timeless gift or a nice jewelry addition, this 1907 Indian Head bronze penny coin pendant would make a fun fashion statement.

Please note:
1. No necklace or chain included
