BIG GEM! Cypraea cribraria #10 33.6mm, Linnaeus 1758, GORGEOUS BEAUTY from the Philippines
. Found Bohol Island, Philippines, by a diver in 60 feet of water, 2020. I only found small beached cribraria while living on Kwajalein, and usually they were very beached, so beached in fact that you could barely tell what they were except by their shape. I often think of that little beach where I used to find them though, because in the high tide line, one could sit down and just sift through the coral and debris and find an enormous number of different small cowries, including bleached mariae, martini, childreni, cribraria, stolida, helvola, clandestina, bistrinotata and others. And what I think about today is, if they were in such quantity on that beach on the lagoon side of the island, well, that meant they were in the shallow waters right in front of that beach, weren't they? That's what I think about, huh.
. Anyhow, as the photos show, this is a nice, big, glossy, beauty that will look terrific sitting on your shelf!

As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
