Original Civil War Era US M1855 Type II Socket Bayonet w/Early Type I Leather Waist Belt Scabbard - Blade is "US" Marked - For 1855 .58cal Rifle-Musket - Excellent  Condition - VERY RARE

Up for sale is an Original Civil War Era US Army Model 1855 Type II Socket Bayonet.  This bayonet has the US marking on the blade.  This bayonet will fit the .58 caliber Model 1855 Rifle-Musket.  The blade and socket are in Excellent Condition.  Some minor discoloration on the socket & the blade.  No rust or pitting on the socket or the blade.  The bayonet is 21" overall length, with a 3" socket, 18 11/16" blade and 16 5/8" face flute.  Also included is an Early Type I Leather Waist Belt Scabbard.  This scabbard features the early sewn frog and belt loop.  The belt loop was made with buff leather.  The scabbard has the full leather covering with a brass tip.  The brass tip has some minor dents & dings, see photos.  Some flaking and surface cracking on the leather.  There are no markings on the scabbard.  This is a excellent example of this very popular bayonet, don't miss your chance to bid. See photo's for condition.   The early Waist Belt Scabbards are very RARE, only produced from the early 1830's through 1860, and not often encountered.

This bayonet will fit the .58 caliber Model 1855 Springfield Rifle-Musket.
