Rare vintage Disney character 8” diameter screen printed terrestrial, spinnable tin globe stands about 10” high atop a 10” round, pressed metal base. This was made between 1949 and 1954 by Rand McNally and Co. in Chicago. Dating took some time, as Germany, Korea and Viet Nam are all shown as one nation. The determining countries may be seen in the existence and borders of Israel/Jordan and Northern Rhodesia/Southern Rhodesia. There are 20 litho Disney characters on the globe (11 are accompanied by lighthearted instructional captions). The base is decorated with a dozen more Disney character decals. PLEASE review all 24 photos for all of these fantastic details and the extraordinary condition of this very rare Disney globe. You will, of course see the dent where the child dropped this on the asbestos-tiled floor over a concrete slab floor back in the 50’s. Her name can be seen in permanent marker on the underside of the base. You may paint over it, but I left this in its original condition. The scale is 1” = 1,000 miles. Globe has only been in one family. This is a must-have for a Disney Collector.
