I love detailed models and this Super detailed and Excellent quality 1:43 scale Matchbox Collectible is unparallel in the industry. I truly think that Matchbox of this series of models surpassed other manufacturers in detail and quality. On the exterior of the truck there's lots of chrome which includes the iconic '55 Chevy grill, front bumper, classic chrom head light trim, front signal lights, left & right side mirrors, door handles, gas cap, chrome around the windows, tail lights, and rear chrome bumper. Very nice graphics on the door, front fenders, front hood logo, and the raised lettering of Chevrolet on the tail gate.
The interior is detail as well and there are lots of things to look at. The bed has tools laying around and are painted to stand out along with the black tow rigging. But, the undercarriage is unparralled in the industry. The details include all weather tires, red rims with a chrome hub cover, the front & rear susension, the engine oil pain, transmission, drive shaft, rear end, gas tank, and frame. It also has the typical graphics identifying the year, maker, and model, as well as Matchbox & Mattel logos, the 1:43 scale identifier, the Models of Yesteryear series, and the fact it was made in China. Matchbox went so far as to finish the underside of this model in the same color as the exterior in white and the rear red fenders extend underside of the fender. Again, Matchbox's attention to detail is fantastic.
It comes with the original Matchbox documents included in the box. This is a certificate of authenticity, a sign up sheet for Matchbox Collectibles mailing list, and an advertisement for a Texaco, Citgo, Mobil, Shell, British Petroleum, and Sunoco tankers. I hesitate to sell but, I'm changing my concentration of models to mini layouts in 1:48 scale so I'm selling the vast majority of my 1:43 scale.
The model is New in the Box and naturally grades out at a C10 and is mint. The box is not quite mint and I would grade it at 9.75 because it has some shelf wear. This has a 1996 Mattel copyright stamp on the bottom so I would assume this was initially made in '96 - '97 time frame.
Overall, this is a gorgeous example of a detailed classic model. Please be on the lookout as I will be listing some 30 to 40 models from my collection trying to cut back a little in my old age. If you are a Studebaker fan you will not be disappointed.
