The Eri Silkmoth 'Samia ricini' only exists in captivity-it has essentially been domesticated and bred into a new species for making silk. The Eri silk is often stated to be peace silk, because the moths are allowed to emerge before the cocoons (silk) are used.  Very similar to Atlas Moths, but smaller.

Each moth may vary in size and coloration.
