Koa is the Largest Native Tree in the Hawaiian Islands Reaching Heights of about 115 Feet Tall and have Over a 30 Feet Spread! Commercially, Koa is One of the Most Expensive Woods in the World. It is Used to Make Furniture, Veneer, and Crafts. Koas are Fast Growing Trees at 5 Feet per Year for the First Five Years, and Can Reach Impressive Heights with Very Impressive & Gorgeous Yellow Blossoms. Grows Naturally All Over the Islands of Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This is a Very Large, Tropical Tree that Needs a Frost-Free Environment. 
Koa Germination:
1) Roughly sand the hard shells.
2) Bring water to a simmer, (Not a boil), and pour into a container placing the seeds in. 
3) Allow the seeds to cool with the water, and soak for 24 to 36 hrs. Change water daily.
4) Use a heated propagator to keep soil temperature at appx 77 F. Sow appx. 1/8" deep in well drained soil and keep moist for optimal germination.
4) Germination can be expected within 3 to 4 weeks.
