Sterling Silver Goblet - Antique George III (1795)

Description

This exceptional antique Georgian sterling silver wine goblet has a plain circular bell shaped form to a circular, waisted pedestal foot.

The body of this antique silver goblet is embellished with impressive flat engraved interlacing, scrolling leaf decoration accented with a trellis style pattern, in addition to pensile floral designs.

The decoration to the body incorporates four carthouches, two display floral sprays and the other two remain vacant.

The lower portion of the body is further ornamented with a simplified scroll leaf design in junction with the pedestal.

The circular spreading foot is encompassed with further flat engraved ornamentation emanating from a band of tooled decoration to the rim.

This impressive example of Georgian silverware retains the original gilded interior.

Condition

This antique sterling silver wine goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

Full hallmarks struck to the rim of the foot are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this piece of antique Georgian silverware.
