A very good quality English silver plated wax jack or taper jack. It is marked with the makers mark of Mappin and Webb and dates to c1950 being a reproduction of a Victorian piece. It was designed so that you could turn the handle to extend the candle saving you time having to replace it. It has been superbly made and is in superb condition being free from dings splits wear distortions and repairs. It measures approx. 6.25 inches (16cm) tall by 5.25 inches (13.3cm) wide by 3 inches (7.6cm) across the base and weighs 288 grams. A very well made nice clean example.
