In 1991, Saucony created G.R.I.D technology. — Ground Reaction Inertia Device, and the first sneakers to use this cushioning system were the Saucony GRID SD. The GRID components were made from DuPont's Hytrel yarns, and the technology is designed to absorb shock during landing - giving the foot maximum shock absorption and energy return while providing the heel with the necessary stabilization.
