VHS played great and Mark Schatz is obviously very skilled. However I am not sure I would call this beginning level. Mark Schatz starts immediately going into advanced concepts of fretboard knowledge and interval knowledge with the ease of a true top level professional.

I think 3 minutes into the VHS the total beginner would be completely lost...maybe 20 seconds....maybe just taking it out of the box and looking at it would be enough for the total beginner to miss the train. In other words once this bad boy starts the train has left the station and it aint a comin' back.

The ease at which Mark Schatz talks about this information makes it seem like an intermediate to advanced level teaching session. It is very good but if you don't know what the root of a chord is and if you don't know how chords change then you are going to be completely left in the dust.
