There is a minor crack in the top there is a crack/missing piece in the Bakelite on the side. The volume knob is very hard to turn. The power cord needs to be fixed. It looks like someone just used electrical tape and put a new cord on. This should be fixed. It is not safe the way it is.

The tuning dial moves but I am not sure it is correct. It does not seem like it goes quite far enough.

I was able to get a couple stations. There is a humming noise that comes and goes.

Up for sale is a vintage 1942 Zenith Model 5D-611 AM vacuum tube radio in an attractive umber brown bakelite case. This radio is a beautiful example of depression streamlined art deco design from the 1930s and 1940s. It was manufactured in the United States during World War II and is a featured refinement of bakelite tube radios.

The radio is in used condition and in working order. It does require some tender loving care (TLC) to bring it back to its original glory. It has been tested and is functional. Don't miss out on this rare piece of history that would make a great addition to any collection.
