The 33rd degree is an honorary degree bestowed for meritorious service to craft masonry. There is no higher level than a Master Mason. Additional degrees bestowed by Scottish and York Rite bodies are essentially "graduate study" in masonry.
People who have been masters of a lodge or served as Grand Lodge officers are not given degrees beyond what any other masons have earned. We are all considered brothers and equal to everyone else in our fraternity.
