Oversized Beautiful Old World Tapestry - Departure of the Knights. W110” x H70”.

I absolutely hate to part with this piece, but I have downsized to smaller home and simply cannot fit it anywhere.  It is absolutely stunning and a real show-stopper.  I purchased it for over $3500.  Please find this a fantastic home!  The photo does not do it justice as there are beautiful gold threads that just catch the light.

In this scene, we see the Departure of the Knights in the quest for the Holy Grail. This tapestry is based from a series of 6 tapestries commissioned by William D'Arcy in 1890, and woven in 1895-6, the originals of which are in the Birmingham museum. Here we see two of the knights of the Round Table bade farewell by the ladies of the court. The forest in the background is more green-blue and represents the night and uncertainly, yet the flowers of the forest floor are colorful and more brightly lit representing the ultimate hope which is their quest to find the Holy Grail. This tapestry "Departure of the Knights" is backed with lining and a tunnel for easy hanging.
