The side of the bell tube is further ornamented with the contemporary engraved presentation inscription 'Presented by the Tientsin British Municipal Volunteer Corps, North China, 1923-1925'.

The impressive bell of the antique silver regimental bugle is encompassed with an applied band of foliate decoration incorporating the presentation phrase '1st Bn the Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire)'**, all on a matte background.

The plain coiled portion of the bugle is further embellished with panels of applied and embossed foliate decoration.

This sterling silver regimental bugle incorporates a detachable conical mouthpiece, secured to the musical instrument with a round link chain.

NOTES:

* The Tudor rose, also known as the Union rose, is a traditional heraldic emblem pertaining to England. The conjoined design of the red rose (House of Lancaster) with the white rose (House of York) to the centre was created by Henry VII in the late 15th century as unification of the two houses after his marriage to Elizabeth of York.

** The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire), which was known as the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment until 1921, was a line infantry regiment of the British Army until it was amalgamated in 1970.

Condition

This military antique silver bugle is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition for its type.

There are a few blemishes to areas of applied decoration; however can be considered to be in excellent condition for such an example and of this age.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the regimental bugle, in addition to part hallmarks to each component are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional cavalry trumpet.
