These were originally designed to carry a heavy 25 lb piece of French Equipment. These slings have a hook and a D ring that allows you to make a quick adjustment and shorten the strap while carrying. Perfect shoulder strap to carry a heavy item long distances. Overall the strap can be adjusted to 64 inches end to end when adjusted to the full length or 31 inches at the shortest adjustment and when using the hook and the D ring. This sling can be used for any rifle or large item. This makes a great bag strap as well.The hook is attached to a sling button or The hook can be removed and replaced with a large plain rifle sling button. The ends of this strap currently have swivel hooks and button holes. So they could be changed out to two brass plain rifle sling buttons and D rings, O rings or any other hardware you want to make this into a bag or purse strap, or dare I say it a camera strap. The strap is nice and wide and thick so it doesn't cut into the shoulder. All vintage slings have been well conditioned and are clean and ready to use.
