The 200mm f/5.6 Medical-NIKKOR lens is a close-up lens designed for medical recording and has a built-in ring flash at the tip. 200mm f/5.6 Medical-NIKKOR lenses come in two types: the older model and the newer model, and the newer model comes in two types, one without C and one with C. There are three models in total. The lens introduced here is the new model with C.
This lens has no focusing ring and the focus position is fixed, so the distance between the camera and the subject must be adjusted to bring the lens into focus. 6 types of dedicated attachment lenses are used (currently not included in this lens) by attaching a combination of these lenses, close-up photography at 1/8x and magnification at 3x can be supported.
There are three rings: the middle ring is used to set the film sensitivity, and the ring on the front side is used to set the magnification to determine the appropriate aperture when using the built-in flash. In other words, it can be used like a flashmatic, where the aperture is determined according to the distance from the subject, making it easy to determine the exposure. The magnification ratio or any number from 1 to 38 can be captured in the image, and the number is selected by turning the ring on the end of the lens. The three rings can be moved independently of each other, so that when the built-in flash is not used, the camera can shoot at any aperture regardless of the magnification.
The power supply unit for using the built-in flash differs between those for older lenses and those for newer lenses. The one for the new lens has a 3-pin type connection cable, and the power supply unit used for it is AC UNIT LA-1. This power supply unit is the same as the one used for the Nikon SR-2 ring flash.
Fixed focus telephoto macro lens made for F mount 35mm SLRs by Nikon. Intended for medical imaging, this lens needs a specific set of close-up filters to achieve different macro reproductions. Has a built-in ring light. Metal body available in black.
This old Medical-Nikkor has a self-compensating design, eliminating all bothersome calculations for setting the diaphragm in relation to film speed and reproduction ratio. All that is required of the photographer is to set the lens for the ASA speed of the film used, attach the auxiliary lens or lenses (currently not included in this lens) accordance with the desired magnification ratio, focus by moving the camera toward or away from the subject and release the shutter. It was also one of the first batch of Nikon auto thyristors that provide automatic flash exposure. Its primary objective was to facilitate convenience in lens handling, permitting deliveries of high quality images of optimum exposure even if it was handled by someone that has little photographic knowledge. That was made possible with the incorporation of an automatic lens diaphragm stops down to correct aperture at the moment of exposure.
