DESCRIPTION
Miedź Legnica
On July 28, 1971, a meeting of the socio-political and sports circles of Legnica took place, during which it was decided to reorganize MZKS and establish the "Miedź" Sports Club.
In the 1971/72 season, the team played in the district league, coached by Josef Stanko. Miedź achieved its first significant success in the 1976/77 season, gaining entry to the third league in sports competition. In the 1984/85 season, after another promotion to the third league, the Legnica team never fell below this level again. The 1988/89 games ended with another achievement - promotion to the second league.
Three years later, the Legnica team won the Polish Cup under Jerzy Fiutowski, defeating Górnik Zabrze in the final on penalties.
The top scorer in the competition was Daniel Dyluś, who was also the most effective player in the 2nd league in the 1991/92 season. In the Cup Winners' Cup, the Legnica team turned out to be weaker than the famous AS Monaco by only one goal. In 2011, a new chapter in the history of Miedź began. Thanks to the takeover of the club by Andrzej Dadełło, the green-blue-red team is again an important team in the country. Miedź's last great success was promotion to the top league, won in the 2017/18 season by coach Dominik Nowak's team.
