Antique Silver & Gilt Fish Brooch

An antique silver brooch in the form of a perch fish.  It likely dates to the early 20th Century and has the impressed mark Silver to the reverse of the top fin, and also tests as silver.  It has a red paste stone eye and a standard pin fastening to the reverse.  As you can probably see in the images it is also gilded although some of the gilt has worn through cleaning over the decades giving it a gold wash look today.

An unusual and interesting piece.

Measurements (Approx)

Length : 55 mm

Height : 32 mm

Weight: 12.15 grams (before packing)

Condition:  Aside from wear to the gilding it appears in very good order.  The pin and catch mechanism are working fine.
