Buttonhook Sterling Silver Handle Antique American Victorian Woodside Sterling Company

This American buttonhook dates from the very late 1890s into very early in the first decade of the 20th century. The mark on the sterling silver repoussé handle indicates it was crafted and produced by Woodside Sterling Co. of New York, NY, which began operation in 1896, and was succeeded in the 1920s by Richard M. Woods & Co. The Woodside mark, an upper case W in a circle next to the word STERLING, appears on one side of the handle. The contraction PAT'D for "patented" appears on the other side. The original brown cotton protective sleeve is included.
