Northern sea oats are a treat in the garden. she is a clump forming, upright ornamental grass with light-green leaves, she grows 2'-3' tall with very distinguished seed heads. the flat seedheads are born on long thin stems that hold the unusual, drooping seedheads that stir and wave in the breeze, turning a lovely bronze in fall. the seedheads keep well for flower arrangements and river oats stay upright thru winter providing textural interest and movement in a winter garden.

northern sea oats are adaptable in full sun to shade in moist sites to dry areas in average garden soil to clay to lean.

northern sea oats make an excellent ground cover, stabilization of stream banks or on a shady hill and will roan rampantly' she may become aggressive and self-sows enthusiastically. they are easily transplanted or removed.

if you have room for it, northern sea oats would be a welcome addition to your garden or landscape.
