This lot includes:

Inscribed book: Wheeler Williams : American Sculptor Series, 1 published in United States by W.W. Norton & Company, Inc. New York under the auspices of The National Sculpture Society. Small handsome volume measuring about 6 1/2” x 5” hardcovers with cloth spine, 1947; red stain on interior front cover and in inscription page, also a crease; creaseinscribed to Charlie Martinez “ who can really swing a paintbrush if he sets his mind to it” and signed by Wheeler Williams in 1948. I think this might be Raul Martinez the Cuban abstract artist who was in Chicago at about the same time as Wheeler, maybe he was known as Charlie, I truly have no idea- just a theory from my cursory research.

Handmade Christmas card with photograph of one of Wheeler’s works I think glued at top on front cover and stamped “The Angel of Prayer”; interior holiday greeting and “From Margaret and Wheeler Williams” stamped in metallic silver ink.

Three photos- two of Wheeler’s works and one incredible one of Wheeler at work on one of his sculptures; pencil cursive reads “Balalika” or “Balalaika” maybe in line with his work? Stamped M. L. I. Photo Bureau with Date Oct 21 1938

Please see photos for visual details; some damage on 5” x 4” photo- clipped right corner, crease, stains, tears.
