Profusely illustrated with photographs in colour and black and white also with diagrams and plans.  Noted Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy pioneered 'appropriate technology' for building in Egypt, especially by working to reestablish the use of adobe and traditional mud construction as opposed to Western building designs. His greatest achievement, as well as his built work, was to call attention to the value of traditional integrity and cultural identity at a time when the people of the Middle East were strenuously attempting to eradicate and deny this heritage.
