You are bidding on 15 SHIGITATSU SAWA JAPANESE MAPLE SEEDS - Acer palmatum "Shigitatsu sawa".

One of the first cultivars with variegation following the vein of the leaf. The early spring variegation on this reticulated leaf form of Japanese maple is amazing. Very pale cream / green with undertones of red and dark green veins in spring changing to a medium green in summer with a less defined vein. Fall color is bright red.


Bark is pale green with white striations. Structure is open and layered, as wide as tall. Slow growing,though not difficult, must have protection from intense sun.


Height : 8-10 ft. (2.4-3 m)


Width : 10-12 ft. (3-3.6 m)


US hardy Zone : 6 - 9



Medicinal use : 

None known



Edible parts of Japanese Maple: The sap contains a certain amount of sugar and can either be used as a drink, or can be concentrated into a syrup by boiling off the water. The syrup is used as a sweetener on many foods.  

Other uses of Japanese Maple: 

The leaves are packed around apples, rootcrops etc to help preserve them.
