Evocative Christmas card reproducing ‘Still Life of Fruit, Nuts and Wine Glass’, 1864,

 by John Edward Newton (1835-91). The handsome painting of sweetmeats, fruit, and wine 

echoes the traditional Christmas gifts exchanged by the Tsar Nicholas I (1796-1855) and his wife

 Alexandra Feodorovna (1798-1860) in the 1850s after a Christmas Eve dinner party at the Winter Palace: 

notably, where bags of sweets, nuts, oranges, prunes, and apricots were given.

High quality card with a smooth glossy finish.  

 Card size is 15cm x 12cm approximately.

The message inside reads: 'With Best Wishes for Christmas and the New Year'.

Supplied with a plain white envelope and cellophane wrapped.
