This is a beautiful concert classical guitar built entirely in the shop of Manuel Contreras senior. Hand crafted in Spain, 1964, just two years after establishing his shop.

The guitar still looks good, plays and sounds great.  It has a cedar top, Brazilian rosewood sides and back, ebony fretboard, and rosewood bridge. The original  Fustero tuning machines are very nice and in good working order. Built in the traditional Spanish fashion, it is fan braced with a Spanish heel.

It has some finish checking on the top, & age appropriate handling wear. The main flaw is a repaired crack on the back that had a spot of buffing that makes the finish around the crack a bit glossier than the rest of the guitar.

This guitar has a very rich tone and speaks with authority.

Comes with fancy Hardshell Case

Manuel Contreras Sr. (1928-1994), a native of Madrid, acquired excellent woodworking skills at a very young age that led to a budding career as a furniture maker. His cabinetry skills gained the attention of José Ramírez III, who invited him to apprentice in his workshop in 1959. Within three years he had developed his craft sufficiently to set up as an independent guitar maker in Madrid. So in 1962 Contreras set up on his own at number 80 Calle Mayor, which to this day has remained the location of the famous shop.
