Belfast, NORTHERN IRELAND - High Street:  High Street in Belfast was the subject of the talk at Bangor Historical Society on 13 January 2011. The speaker was Norman Weatherall. High Street is the second oldest street in Belfast and was originally called Front Street, while Ann Street was named Back Street.  Belfast High Street is located in the heart of the shopping district, placed between the 2 main shopping malls - Victoria Square and Castlecourt.  Belfast, meaning "mouth of the sand-bank ford") is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, standing on the banks of the River Lagan on the east coast. It is the 10th-largest primary urban area in the United Kingdom and the second-largest city in the island of Ireland. Belfast City had a population of 293,298 in 2021.  The population of its metropolitan area was 671,559 in 2011, and the Belfast Local Government District had a population 345,418 in 2021.  This Divided Back Era (1907-15) postcard is in good condition.
