An English Royalist, Roger L'Estrange was an English pamphleteer, and press censor who during the Restoration published a number of pamphlets supporting a return of Charles II and attacked various Commonwealth writers, including John Milton. In 1662 he was granted a warrant to seize seditious books or pamphlets and soon after served as both Surveyor of the Press and Licenser of the Press.
