This is the Hagi white tea bowl "Suehiro" crafted by the 11th generation Miwa Kyusetsu. It is a remarkable piece with a splendid presence. On the underside of the box lid, you will find the signature (花押) of Senkei Jorakusai, the 14th-generation head of the Urasenke school of tea ceremony.

While inheriting the tradition of Hagi ware, he gained attention for his use of white glaze and bold forms. In 1967, he succeeded to the name of the 11th generation Kyusetsu and continued the Miwa kiln. In 1983, he was recognized as a holder of important intangible cultural property (Living National Treasure) for "Hagi ware."
