These seeds have been stored in an unheated garage for 90 days.

They should be ready to be planted without further stratification.

Good luck and

Thank You!!

Hello, and welcome to Gramaseeds! We've been on eBay for decades buying and selling under various store names. I've had many passions in my life, but gardening is the #1. I love everything, well, except weeding, about it. We deal heavily with white tail deer in  our area. I've counted more than 20 in our front yard in the winter. I used to have an amazing, amazing front yard filled with zinnia. Three years ago, they nibbled, the next year they ate almost all of them! I stopped planting elegans in front. It was heartbreaking. Then I realized that I just had to change the botanicals I planted there. I list in large capital letters in each description if the plants and flowers are deer resistant or not and edible or not. We do consume many of these plants and my experiences with them will also be listed. In some areas near us, they leave zinnia alone, here they don't except for most  haaegiania, peruviana, and angustifolia which saved the day. Every seed we sell we grew.  We always over weigh each order to account for chaff.

Here we are offering a 1 gram (approximately 120 seeds) amount of
Polanisia dodecandra (Red Whisker Clammyweed) seeds harvested from our organic garden this past fall of 2023. We've had great success for the past 5 years growing these outside here in WNY. Zone 6A. Ours have grown upwards of 2' tall each season! They grow in full sun and thrive drier conditions. I cannot say enough about these plants! They flower for months. Our flowered last year from the end of May until late September. The tiny red whiskers draw pollinators galore! We used them as fillers where shorter flowers were needed along with sulphur cosmos, plains coreopsis, and marigolds.  Not many in our area could identify these beautiful flowers.

DEER RESISTANT! Just like cleome's they won't touch them.
EDIBLE: This plant is so close to resembling cleomes that they used to be in the same family. Yes, they have the "musky" smell to them, but it isn't something noticeable unless your handling the foliage. We do consume the leaves, flowers, and seed. We feel these have the best taste among the "cleome-like" plants. There's a lot of information on them, but not a lot of research as is with the Cleome's.
NATIVE: Southeastern Oregon; east across northern states to Minnesota; south to northeastern California, southern Arizona, northern Mexico, and most of Texas

The seeds do need to be stratified for at least 14 in the fridge or in ground Plant in early spring(where cold enough) and germination takes awhile with these as well as similar cleome species, and you'll need to be patient for sometimes 45-60 days after stratification. Mine have returned on their own the past 2 years. Its well worth the wait!

Always do your research!
