Description: A classic American singer of jazz standards, Johnny Holiday got his first career boost in the late 1940's as featured vocalist for the Glen Miller orchestra, under the direction of Ray McKinley after Miller's death, and became quite a popular entertainer in Europe. After arriving in California in 1950, Holiday recorded briefly for Capitol Records, followed by an album for Dick Bock's Pacifica label. In addition, Holiday also recorded for Contemporary Records, Kapp Records with Russ Garcia, and the Mode label with the great Marty Paich arranging. The unique album featured here was done much later on in Holliday's career and focuses on one of America's favorite pastimes and the well known rallying song that accompanies it. Several versions of Take Me Out To The Ball Game are presented here, each one tailor made for different major league baseball teams including the Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and others - plus the Lancaster Jet Hawks, a minor league Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros in Lancaster California. All selections newly remastered.
