This neat, official, color post card from the 1909 Jamestown Exposition, was sent on August 12, 1909, to a Miss Grace Lowe, Butler, Indiana! The sender was a cousin, Harley, a sailor serving(likely training) aboard the U.S.S. "Richmond," in Norfolk, Virginia. The U.S.S. "Richmond," a wooden, steam sloop first launched in 1860, was an auxiliary receiving ship to the receiving ship, U.S.S. "Franklin," at the time that this card was sent.

To continue, the green, 1-Cent, U.S. "Franklin," definitive is in excellent condition! The duplex cancel from the Portsmouth, VA, Navy Yard Station Post Office is superb!

Lastly, as for the condition of the post card, it's very good! Aside from some minute stains on the front, it's pretty clean! There is some minor wear and tear around parts of the edges(creases and rounded edges). The images on the front are very vibrant, and really neat! Minor blemishes aside, this item is a nifty piece of U.S. Naval postal history connected to the Jamestown Exposition of 1907, a sailor serving on the U.S.S. Richmond, and his female cousin, Grace, in Indiana!
