1670 EXQUISITE Roman Missal
Catholic Church Liturgy Marolles Cigogne Bible ART
An incredible rare 17th-century
Roman Catholic Missal. This work, edited by Daniel de Cigogne, is a beautiful
example of Catholic liturgy for Holy Week. This 1670 edition was translated
into French by Marolles, which would become an important translation for
Catholic Missals moving into the 18th-century.
Michel de Marolles’s translations were
extensive and quite precise. In addition to his liturgical texts, he translated
classics such as Ovid, Virgil, Horace, Juvenal, and other Greek and Latin
classics into French.
