japanese navy axe

Description

Total length:14.5cm
An exclusive opportunity to acquire a rare WWII artifact - the ceremonial launch axe from the Imperial Japanese Navy cruiser 'Haguro,' crafted by Mitsubishi Electric Shipbuilding.

This launch axe, engraved on one side with 'Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Kawasaki Shipyard' and on the other with 'Cruiser Haguro Launch Commemoration,' is a remarkable piece of naval history.

The 'Haguro' was built at the Mitsubishi Nagasaki shipyard (now Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard) and completed on April 25, 1929.

This launch axe not only commemorates the ship's launch but also symbolizes the historical craftsmanship of the era.

Despite the passage of time, it remains a poignant reminder of Japan's maritime prowess during a turbulent period in global history.
