Alpine (AKA German) Spruce has been a standard material for old-school classical builders. These tops have a creamy white or yellowish color with tight grains and fine "silk" texture. Extremely stiff and very close to Red Spruce by density. Rings like a bell. You will be hard pressed to find soundboard of this quality anywhere. Cut from split logs therefore no run-out. I have purchased those sets directly from Germany and have very few left.
