LUXMAN D-500 ¥250,000 (introduced in March 1994)

This CD player inherited the design concept and basic structure of the D-500X's and D-500X'sII, and was revised for even greater perfection.

The top-loading system eliminates unstable structures such as the slide mechanism, thereby reducing harmful resonance caused by unstable moving parts and the effects of turbulence on the disc itself.
Moreover, the entire loading section is a floating structure and mounted on a solid base to isolate internal and external vibrations, thereby improving tracing performance. Furthermore, the recesses for disc ejection are shaped to suppress turbulence during rotation.

The CDM-3 pickup mechanism manufactured by Philips is used in the pickup section.
The CDM-3 has a die-cast swing arm with a clear fulcrum and a pantograph focusing mechanism mounted on a die-cast frame that always maintains parallelism with the disc. Furthermore, a one-beam system, which eliminates the influence of side beams, ensures optically advanced performance. This high-precision pickup mechanism minimizes excess load fluctuations in the servo circuitry, thus reducing jitter and its effect on the power supply.

The digital filter uses an 8x oversampling digital filter, and the D/A conversion section is equipped with a high-precision 18-bit DAC, which overcomes the re-quantization errors and distortion associated with DA conversion by pursuing accuracy and realizing a simple structure that is devoted to the basics of converters. This reduces the burden of complex arithmetic processing and minimizes digital noise.

The top and bottom panels face each other at an angle to form a strong wedge-shaped structure between the main unit, which eliminates natural vibration and torsion and ensures excellent stability against external vibrations.
In addition, materials with different vibration modes such as FRP, aluminum, steel plate, and wood are placed in appropriate locations to minimize resonance and enhance the synthesis of the entire structure.

The servo circuit board, which is sensitive to vibration, is separated from the mechanism to isolate it from the slightest vibration.
