INTRODUCTION:
This book can be said to be a record of Raku Kichizaemon XV's recollection of his relationship with his late father, Kakunyu. It consists of 21 bowls by Kakunyu, 17 bowls by Kichizaemon XV, and a text by Kichizaemon XV. Each bowl has Ubuna (= The name given to the work.The names of these bowls are often given by Kakunyu's wife.), firing method, year of production and size of the bowl in Japanese and English. Signed by Raku Kichizaemon XV.

RAKU Kichizaemon XV
Born in 1949 as the eldest son of Kakunyu. Studied in Italy after graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1973. In 1981, after the death of Kakunyu, succeeded to the Raku family headship as Raku Kichizaemon XV. As the head of the family founded by Chojiro during The Momoyama period more than 400 years ago,he has devoted his career to exploring the possibilities of the traditional tea bowl format in a constant search for new modes of expression.
