RARE ANCIENT VIKING NORDIC SILVER EAR SPOON WITH GILDING



A rare Viking household item with two beast heads. The loop is intact, which makes it wearable

In addition to the pricker and tweezers, ear spoons were also a more common part of the Viking women's costume. These functional pendants in many different forms were found in the settlement areas of the Vikings.


The ear spoon was often attached to a long chain or leather strap on the shell brooch of the women's garment and hung down from there at belt height - ready for use at any time. Often a pair of tweezers and a nail cleaner or awl were also attached in this way
