I have here for sale a rare set of 13 watercolour painted Chinese fold-up letters.  They show different Chinese scenes which we believe were painted around the time of the Japanese Invasion of Nanking.  One shows Wu Xuan lake which is in Nanking.  Several of them show Japanese soldiers in them with seascapes, temples, lakes, rural scenes etc. They may have been produced for the Japanese soldiers to write back home showing the Japanese people beautiful scenes of the country just conquered by the Imperial Army, or they may have been Chinese productions for Chinese usage. Never seen them before so if you have any background on them, please let me know.

Each letter measures 15.5 x 31 cm and has a watercolour painting on one side and is blank on reverse for you to write your letter on.  It then folds up and has a gummed flap to secure it shut.  There is one panel where the address and stamp would go.  All in very good condition.  No tears.
