I have here for sale a RARE book entitled UNIVERSAL HISTORY, ANCIENT AND MODERN; From the Earliest Records of Time to the General Peace of 1801 in Twenty Five Volumes, VOL I: A PRELIMINARY VIEW OF UNIVERSAL HISTORY; Together with A History of the Antediluvians, of Ancient Egypt, and the Neighbouring Nations by WILLIAM MAVOR LL.D. printed for Richard Phillips, London, in 1802.  First edition.  Here we have the first volume of Scottish teacher, priest and compiler of educational books, William Mavor's 25 volume set on a universal history up to 1802.  This volume includes a full-page b/w frontispiece illustration and a fold-out map of The Ancient World at the back of the book.

Quarter bound tan leather on marbled hardboards with gilt lettering and gilt bands on the spine.  Boards are worn as is the leather on the spine, with gilt lettering and bands just visible.  Red speckled page edges.  All pages are firm and the book is in very good condition.  xii, 345 pages, plus Contents 2 pages.  16 x 10 cm.

Postage will be by Air Mail outside of UK.  If you buy more than one item then the postage cost falls for the second and further items as I will put them into one parcel - so you save money.
