Funnel bronze axe is part of metal (bronze) age culture, dating back to ± 500 years BC. The top of the ax is in the shape of a funnel with a split tip, and in the funnel shape is where the wooden shaft is inserted which is at an angle to the plane of the axe. Funnel axes are sometimes also called shoe axes, because it is as if the ax is compared to a shoe and the shaft is likened to a human foot. Funnel axes are used as a means of ritual ceremonies. In Indonesia, funnel axes are found in South Sumatra, Java, Bali, Central and South Sulawesi, Selayar Island and in Papua near Lake Sentani, where there are many types.
